In The Garden, Fred Yates
42 x 20", Oil on Canvas
A superb example of a colourful Fred Yates oil on canvas. Whilst the subject of the painting is quirky, it's not as abstract as some Yates' can be. This allows it to have more meaning as an overall scene and exhibit details such as the dogs, the men and the terraced cottages behind. The loading of paint in this piece is something else, it's thick and projects off the canvas. The canvas the artwork is painted on can only be described as more of an embroidery, with threads hanging out of the reverse side. Whilst Fred used to paint on allsorts of mediums, this is certainly out there!
